The Rabbis of the Talmud didn’t write philosophy, but midrash instead – what we might today call myth – an imaginative exercise in filling textual gaps. Together, we’ll explore one intriguing example: what happened during Moshe’s mysterious 40 days and nights on Mount Sinai? Why do the Rabbis imagine angels preventing the Israelites from receiving the Torah? And what does this say about their approach to the Divine-human relationship?
